PENEDA-GERÊS NATIONAL PARK
Cabril is the second largest parish in the Municipality of Montalegre. Fully inserted in the Peneda-Gerês National Park, the parish is made up of 15 small villages spread across an area of 76.6 km2.
The villages of downtown Cabril are located alongside the River Cabril whose source is in Sobroso and its mouth is in the River Cávado.
Water lines abound it, creating waterfalls, lakes, streams and ponds of great beauty. The Cela Cavalos waterfall, Pincães waterfall, the Poços Verdes do Sobroso, the blue well in Fafião, are some of the examples you will want to know.
The parish of Cabril is also rich in cultural and human values. Some of the ancestral agricultural practices are still alive. Grazing remains an important source of income for local families. Small family farming provides the staple food of an organic diet.
